Powersport & ATV Batteries
Powersport and ATV batteries work in some of the toughest conditions of any vehicle. Mud, vibration, short rides, cold starts, and accessories like winches and light bars all put heavy demand on a small battery.
At Century Batteries, we help riders choose the right battery for how their machine is actually used — trail riding, farm work, winter plowing, or seasonal recreation. We carry durable AGM, GEL, flooded, and lithium batteries designed for vibration resistance, reliable starting power, and longer life in harsh conditions. We also offer free battery testing so you know whether you truly need a replacement.
Whether your ATV won’t start after sitting, struggles in cold weather, or drains after running accessories, our team can diagnose the issue and get you back riding. Visit our Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or Port Coquitlam locations and we’ll help match the correct battery for your machine.

Powersport & ATV Battery FAQ
Why do ATV batteries fail so often?
ATVs and side-by-sides are often used intermittently and stored for long periods. Small batteries naturally discharge over time, and vibration, mud, and temperature changes accelerate wear. Sitting discharged is the most common reason they fail.
How long should an ATV battery last?
Typically two to four years depending on usage. Machines used for short rides, farm chores, or seasonal use usually see shorter life because the battery rarely reaches full charge.
Do accessories drain the battery?
Yes. Winches, plows, heated grips, and light bars place heavy load on small batteries. If the engine isn’t running long enough afterward, the battery never fully recovers.
My ATV won’t start after winter — is the battery dead?
Possibly, but not always. A proper slow charge can sometimes recover it. If it sat discharged through the season, internal damage is likely and replacement may be needed. We can test it to confirm.
AGM vs conventional ATV batteries — which is better?
AGM batteries are sealed, vibration resistant, and hold charge longer during storage, making them the preferred option for most riders. Conventional batteries cost less but require maintenance and are more sensitive to sitting unused.
Do I need a battery maintainer?
Yes. A maintenance charger during storage greatly extends battery life and prevents spring starting problems.
Can cold weather affect my ATV battery?
Cold weather doesn’t damage it directly but requires more starting power. A weak battery will show problems first on cold mornings around the Fraser Valley.
Can you test my battery before I replace it?
Yes. We provide quick testing so you know whether it needs charging, replacement, or if another issue is causing the problem.
Do you carry chargers and accessories?
Yes, we carry maintenance chargers and charging equipment designed specifically for powersport batteries.
